2006

Today is the very last day of the year 2006. As I look back on this year I think of how fast it has went by and how much our lives have changed.
We worked really hard and Jacob became a K9 handler and we got Sadie.
I started my blog and soon after so did Jacob.
I had a kidney stone and thought I was going to die. We'll be paying on that bill for the rest of our lives.
My sweet baby turned 5 and started preschool
My nephew Tim graduated high school.
We sold our very first home and bought a beautiful home.
and so much more.

All in all I think 2006 was a pretty good year. Hopefully 2007 will be even better.

Happy New Year everyone!! Stay safe tonight!

In the last few days..

Wow it's been a busy week. I've done lots of stuff and yet I really don't know what to post about.

Those of you who get the Mansfield paper will find Connor's picture with Santa in this weeks edition.

Yesterday we went to the funeral of a dear fellow fireman. A very sad day. Terry was great EMT, fireman and reserve deputy with the Sheriff's Dept. He had sense of humor and could always be found at rodeos and 4th of July celebrations handing out glow sticks to every child there.

We had a nice Christmas at my in-laws today. We had ham, turkey, all the fixings and of course my favorite Cheesecake! My mother-in-law just about banned me from the cheesecake because she found out that Mamaw had sent me some on Christmas Day. I want to know who told her! ;)

The Ring

We had a wonderful Christmas. Connor loved all of his gifts from Santa. Jacob bought me a beautiful new wedding ring. I just love it!

Tonight I went with Glendela, Adrian and Shyla to get our nails done. Shyla had went this morning to get hers done and the rest of us went tonight. It was so much fun even if it was really late by the time we got out of there.

Every year we get Christmas money and I always end up paying bills or buying groceries with it but this year I decided that I would do something for me. :)

Merry Christmas Eve

Merry Christmas Everyone. Safe travels to all of those out there who are travling.
A Mothers Letter to Santa..

Dear Santa,
I've been a good mom all year. I've fed, cleaned, and cuddled my two children on demand, visited the doctor's office more than my doctor, sold sixty-two cases of candy bars to raise money to plant a shade tree on the school playground and figured out how to attach nine patches onto my son's Boy Scout patches with staples and a glue gun.
I was hoping you could spread my list out over several Christmases, since I had to write this letter with my daughter's red crayon, on the back of a receipt in the laundry room between cycles, and who knows when I'll find anymore free time in the next 18 years.

Here are my Christmas wishes:
I'd like a pair of legs that don't ache after a day of chasing kids (in any color, except purple, which I already have) and arms that don't flap in the breeze, but are strong enough to carry a screaming toddler out of the candy aisle in the grocery store.
I'd also like a waistline, since I lost mine somewhere in the seventh month of my last pregnancy.
If you're hauling big ticket items this year I'd like a car with fingerprint-resistant windows and a radio that only plays adult music; a television that doesn't broadcast any programs containing talking animals; and a refrigerator with a secret compartment behind the crisper where I can hide to talk on the phone.
On the practical side, I could use a talking doll that says, "Yes, Mommy" to boost my parental confidence, along with one potty-trained toddler, two kids who don't fight, and three pairs of jeans that will zip all the way up without the use of power tools. I could also use a recording of Tibetan monks chanting, "Don't eat in the living room" and "Take your hands off your sister," because my voice seems to be just out of my children's hearing range and can only be heard by the dog.
And please don't forget the Play-Doh Travel Pack, the hottest stocking stuffer this year for mothers of pre-schoolers. It comes in three fluorescent colors and is guaranteed to crumble on any carpet making the In-laws' house seem just like mine.
If it's too late to find any of these products, I'd settle for enough time to brush my teeth and comb my hair in the same morning, or the luxury of eating food warmer than room temperature without it being served in a Styrofoam container.
If you don't mind I could also use a few Christmas miracles to brighten the holiday season. Would it be too much trouble to declare ketchup a vegetable? It will clear my conscience immensely. It would be helpful if you could coerce my children to help around the house without demanding payment as if they were the bosses of an organized crime family; or if my toddler didn't look so cute sneaking downstairs to eat contraband ice cream in her pajamas at midnight.
Well, Santa, the buzzer on the dryer is ringing and my son saw my feet under the laundry room door. I think he wants his crayon back. Have a safe trip and remember to leave your wet boots by the chimney and come in and dry off by the fire so you don't catch cold. Help yourself to cookies on the table, but don't eat too many or leave crumbs on the carpet.
Yours Always,

MOM
P.S. One more thing...you can cancel all my requests if you can keep my children young enough to believe in you.

Gingerbread House and Baking Cookies

Tonight Connor made a gingerbread house and then we baked our cookies for Santa. We had so much fun. He decorated them all by himself.

Matt's Truck Was Where???

Christmas shopping went well yesterday. We went from barely started to "almost" done. We got darn lucky and ended up getting several great buys. I can't post them or everyone would know what they got for Christmas. ;)

We didn't get home until after 10:30. Jacob's friend Matt called and said he was going to stop by the house and we said ok. He got there before we did and we came home to his truck in our pond! Not only was he in the pond he had hit a tree and his bumper was tangled to the tree and his wheels were in the pond. I'm guessing he took me too literally when I told him he needed to drive fast to make it across the mud. I didn't mean slide around the corner doing 100mph! So anyway he stayed until around 2:30am visiting. He had to come back today to get his truck out. Luckily my father-in-law was able to pull him out today with the tractor. Sure wish I had gotten a picture for my blog.

Not only did we have to deal with Matt's truck in the mud but when we got home our electricity was out! I made sure the first thing I did was call up the electric company. Luckily it wasn't our for about an hour but that was long enough if you ask me. I'd call to report my power out just for the simple fact that I'm irritated with the power company but there are other reasons to report power outages. I saw on the news not long ago that most companies base who gets fixed first by call volume. I guess he who complains the loudest gets service first... I shouldn't have much problem with that! :)

I sure was tired this morning getting up for work. My friend Jeni and Eddie came for dinner tonight and to see our new home. I've been friends with Jeni since the 7th grade and this was the first time we've ever had her and her husband over for dinner. It was nice to have them.

4 Days until Christmas!!

Christmas Shopping

Normally my goal is to have all of my Christmas shopping done by December 1st. This year however I hadn't done any shopping because I wanted to wait until we were in our new house so that I'd have someplace to put it all. So here we are 6 short days until Christmas, 5 until Christmas at my mom's house, and I have barely even started. Jacob and I are going to Springfield tomorrow shopping and I told him I wasn't coming home until I was done. We may not be back until Christmas Day!

Shopping in Springfield, or anywhere for that matter, this time of year is bad enough but this year is going to be even harder on me. You see on Saturday I somehow kicked the corner of my island and broke my toenail in half. Jacob upon looking at it tonight thinks that I've fractured my toe. He boiled it out today with peroxide and it bubbled forever. The entire nail is broke in half. It hurts like the dickens! We went to Wal-Mart today and by the time I got out of there my toe was hurting so bad I could hardly walk so going to the mall tomorrow is going to be interesting. Hopefully it will be feeling better by morning. I'm being super easy on it tonight and I'll soak it later. We'll see how well it works.

I'd post a picture of it but I don't think ya'll wana see it!

Missed Me??

Wow it is sooo good to be back online! I have LOTS to post about but I'll just start with my party.

So... you all are coming to my party.. RIGHT?? Of course you are! Who would miss it! ;)

It seems I forgot to post a time for my party. It will be around 6:30pm this Sunday. Of course anyone who wants to help cook/clean/decorate/unpack boxes is welcome to get here anytime.

Sunday is Jacob's birthday but I think I'm even more excited than he
is... maybe not he's pretty excited too. :)

Change of Plans

I'm so sorry but I must reschedule my housewarming party. It seems I was so concerened with when Jacob had to work that I forgot that I have to work Wednesday! :( The party will now be next Sunday December 17th, Jacob's Birthday. It will be a housewarming/birthday party for Jake.

I sure hope everyone is still able to come.

Hey Honey I'm Home

We are FINALLY living in our home AND we have running water. I was tempted to ask the stupid guy that was suppose to be here two weeks ago to finish the job just how well he enjoyed his running water last night. Did his bathroom flush did he get to take a shower?? Because I didn't!! The workers will be back once again tomorrow to finish up just a few things on the outside. I'll be lucky to be unpacked by NEXT Christmas.

Not many of you have posted that you'll be at my housewarming party. I sure hope my mom isn't the only one planning on coming.

I might be a little AWOL the next few days as we don't have any phone or internet service over at our house yet. Hopefully that will change soon. I'm not sure how long I can go without internet.

Housewarming Party

We will be having a housewarming party next Wednesday December 13th at 6:00pm. I know I told a few of you that I thought it would be Sunday night but I forgot Jacob had to work that night.
If you need directions either e-mail me or post your name asking for directions in the comments. Also you can post in the comments to tell me if you are planning on coming. I've got a pretty big house so I hope lots of people come. :)

More Pictures

House Pictures

I'm trying once again to post some pictures of my house. For some reason they don't want to post. Work crews better show up for work tomorrow or I'll be hunting them down and dragging them here by their ears. I'm fed up with people not willing to work!

I've got a couple more pictures I'll try to post after this one if this one works.

In a better mood

I'm in a slightly better mood today than I was last night. One guy did show up to work today but somehow managed to fall into the water/ice filled hole for the pipes. Idiot. Jacob had even gotten there early and shoveled off the snow and broke the ice so that it was plainly visible so that no one would fall in it. So anyway, they left without finishing anything. The guy that finishes the interior is suppose to come tomorrow and finish up. He was suppose to come yesterday and then today so I'm not holding my breath. We've been back and forth with several people to dig our septic. Not 100% sure on when and how that's all going to play out yet. "If" the guy finishes the inside tomorrow at least we can move all of our stuff in. We won't have running water but at least our stuff will be there.
On a fun note we went sledding today. That was so much fun. We have a great hill by our house to sled at. I should have taken some pictures. We had a blast.
Oh speaking of pictures I'll try to post some pictures of our house in a little bit. The pictures I've taken haven't turned out very well but I'll post them anyway.
