HAPPY BIRTHDAY MITZI

Happy Birthday to my sister-in-law Mitzi!!

I would have posted a picture of her but it seems all the pictures I have of her on my computer she has her butt turned to me. I don't figure she would have liked me posting that too much. :)

Hope you had a good day today Mitzi.

Update: Look someone was nice enough to e-mail me a picture!!

Thanks Again Glinda. I LOVE it!!

I took a picture of one glass cabinet with the door open and the other side with that door closed. Just so you could see the effect. ;)

Spotlight on Website: Amber Alert

Every once in awhile I run across a website that I think it is pretty interesting. Not interesting enough to put it in my links section but still worth sharing. From now on I'll try to do better about sharing them. So when you see the title Spotlight on Website you'll know a great link is to follow. :)

This first Website is the national Amber Alert website.

http://www.amberalert.gov/

There is lots of neat information on the Amber Alert system. You can also sign up to receive text messages to your phone when there is an Amber Alert issued for your specific area. The best part about this is that the service is FREE. Neither the website or any of the cell phone providers charge for these messages. I looked and I believe all of the carriers in this area are on the list. For example the ones I know I saw are ... Cingular, US Cellular, Alltel, Verision.. and Much more. Those are just the ones that I know we have in this area. I tried to sign up but the page was down last time I tried so hopefully I'll get around to signing up soon.

Busy Week

It's been a busy week.

Tuesday I had a weather spotter class that I went to. It was much more exciting than the last fire class I went to. I thought it was going to be a VERY long night when the class first started. We had some idiot in the front row that kept insisting why there was a tornado warning on whatever date when there was nothing on the radar.. blah, blah, blah.. no matter how many times the instructor told him that he would have to check the logs this guy couldn't "get it". After he could tell people were getting annoyed he shut up and was quiet most the rest of the evening.

Wednesday we met with the Burlington-Northern guy and discussed a settlement. They ended up making us 2 offers. I think we'll probably take the second offer. It's not as much as we had hoped but considering we did hit them!

Tonight we have a fire meeting.

Car Wreck pictures

Here is a couple pictures of the car wreck. In the second picture you should be able to see the train because it's only a couple feet from the car. These were taken after the rescue truck pulled us off of the train.

Enjoying "our" Great Outdoors

The last few days the weather has been just beautiful. Even though today it looked like it could rain it was still warm. Connor and I have been going outside every evening and playing, burning boxes/brush down by the pond, looking for frogs, watching for fish... It's been so much fun. We don't come back in until dark.

Have I mentioned lately just how much I love living here?!?

Pond Puppy

Emmy had an almost tragic accident yesterday. While we were outside enjoying the weather she fell in the pond. She then freaked out and couldn't figure out how to get out. She started swimming to the middle of the pond. I thought she was going to drown. I did not want to have to go in the mossy pond after her but, I would have!

She's ok. Except for the fast that her neck is pink from her collar getting wet.

The Accident

Last night we were involved in a pretty bad car accident when our car stuck a train. We are so thankful that we are all alright. Connor has a black eye. Poor thing says it doesn't hurt so I'm thankful for that. Jacob and I are pretty sore. He has some nasty looking cuts on his arms and I have a pretty bad mark on my belly that is from the seat belt.

Neither one of us saw the train and we BOTH looked to see if there was one. It was an empty train with no lights and no reflectors of any kind. When we came over the hill we saw nothing. We didn't see the train until it was too late. We hit pretty hard. We were all buckled into our seat belts. Connor was buckled into his booster seat and both of our front air bags deployed. The car is totaled. Our first reaction was to tun around and make sure Connor was alright. He was crying. We were terrified that the train would start moving and we wouldn't be out in time. My door wouldn't open so yelled for Jacob just to get Connor out and that I'd either get my door open or go out his. As he was getting Connor out I managed to get my door open.

The story gets worse... As we are getting out of the car we look up and see what appears to be our house, a little less than half a mile away fully on fire! Jacob asks if we are ok and I said yes just go see if that is our house!! He takes off calling 911 and running to the house. Luckily it wasn't our house just the neighbor burning a large bunch of brush. I guess it was reflecting in the glass doors because it looked like flames were shooting out of it. Jacob had to get all the way to our house until he was sure it wasn't our house. We probably wouldn't have been as worried but right before we left Jacob thought he could smell smoke. So at one point in the evening I was unsure how ok my family was after hitting a train and sure that my house was on fire. How bad could it get?? Turns out we are VERY lucky!

I took a few pictures with my camera phone but they didn't turn out. My cousin Gena took some good ones so I'll post them as soon as I get them from her.

Cars are replaceable. Family members are not! I'm just so thankful.

YARD SALE

I went to a yard sale today!! First one this year. I bought LOTS of stuff..

Here's what I bought..

Jacob bought a new 2 room cordless phone, like the one his Dad just bought. He gave $10 for it which is high but a GREAT buy considering what they cost.

A water hose house. It winds the house up inside. Still had the sticker on it. Gave $1.oo for it.

A stack of material. These were huge pieces of material one had the price tag from where they had it cut at Wal-Mart and it was over $13. Didn't look like they had ever used any of it. Gave .25 for it all.

A box of wedding stuff for $1. This was an awesome buy for me. It had rose petals, cake topper, Wilton Cake separator plate still had the price tag on it of $3. Four brand new packages of cake pillars, total on their packages was $15 from Hobby Lobby, also had a veil, 3 bouquets, ring bear pillow, flower girl basket. Lots of stuff I'm always using for weddings.

5 books. Mostly for Ebay.

An unopened bag of batting. .25

A box of stuff for mom for $1.

That's all I can remember..

Oh guess what I planted today... EASTER LILIES!!!

Look at the peppers!

My peppers are growing like crazy! Lots of my seeds I planted this week are also starting to come up. I'm so excited. My mother-in-law brought me 2 aloe vera plants. My father-in-law said I was watering them too much. I asked him how often I should water them and he said once a week. I've been watering them twice a day! I just don't know if I can handle not watering them. On the bright side once I stopped watering them my 4 leaf clovers started coming back up! Who would have thought. :) I'm not sure they will bloom by St.Patricks day or not but I hope so.

Happy Planting!
